Introducing "Meet Our Global Talent Solutions" Blog Series

Hello! My name is Paige Danehy and I am a Summer Student Worker for the Colleague Experience Team at Pfizer. I am a rising Senior at Colgate University where I major in Sociology. I have always loved working with people and have developed a passion for problem solving and helping people work to their best ability. In the past, I have worked for a non-for-profit in New York City called Vibrant Emotional Health and a start-up company named Fair Harbor Clothing. My experience at Vibrant Emotional Health inspired me to want to make a difference in the world, and to help people who have experienced trauma or have a hard time dealing with their mental health challenges. As a country, we need to work to get rid of the stigma that is associated with mental health challenges and open our doors to people in need, the way Vibrant does, rather than close them.

Tying together my work with Vibrant and my experience working for a business led me to the field of Human Resources. I want to be able to work with people and help ensure they are motivated and passionate about the work they are doing. If they are not passionate about their work, then they will not be able to perform as effectively as they can. During my internship at Pfizer this summer, I have been given this unique opportunity to conduct interviews with the Global Talent Solution Leaders at Pfizer, which comprise our “GTS Leadership Perspective” blog mini-series. These interviews allowed for me to gain insight into the critical work that the leaders do at Pfizer, particularly when it comes to talent and strategy.

One of the things I have observed is that it is important to break down the barriers and express that is ok to not be ok, similar to the message I learned at Vibrant Emotional Health. Things that were not ok to talk about a couple of years ago are vital to talk about today. In fact, it makes a person stronger when they admit that things are difficult, and it bonds colleagues and people together to do so. At Pfizer, I have observed that every worker and manager understand that communication is more important than ever during this time, and it is the only way that we as a community and workforce are going to get through this together.

The goal of the “GTS Leadership Perspective” mini-series blog posts are to identify and share these leaders’ roles, strategies and perspective on their work, as Pfizer and the world is heading into a new era. These blog posts share a strong focus on Pfizer’s culture, values and bold moves. From the remarks addressing the COVID crisis, social justice movements, and everyday challenges we have been facing during this unknown time, you will gain a real feel of how colleagues at Pfizer value each other.

Looking at how Pfizer has responded to this crisis, you will see how colleagues have adapted to remote working, maintained positivity and productivity, and been able to work effectively and efficiently. All in all, these responses provide unique insight to the GTS leaders of Pfizer and are shared to help remind everyone that you are not alone. We are in this together and Pfizer is working hard to make sure we come through this crisis stronger than we went into it.
